Supported Living

Supported LivingSupported Living is our approach to providing people with disabilities who desire a more independent lifestyle the supports they need to work and live in their communities.  The goal of the program is to teach the individual necessary skills to promote their independence and ensure they maintain a quality of life.  It is our hope that all the individuals we serve in this manner will eventually reach a level of independence where they will someday need little to no support.

All of our support services are tailored to each individual according to their wants, needs, individual preferences and desires and is based on their schedule, not on a program’s.  Our supports include, but are not limited to, health/medical needs, financial/budgeting skills, socialization skills, personal hygiene/appearance skills, meal planning/preparation skills, communication, psychiatric/counseling services, assisting with community awareness/integration, and safety skills.Dan at work at Cooper's Seafood House in Scranton

We encourage an individual’s right to risk and learn from their mistakes, provided their choices to not endanger themselves or others.  It is our belief that to be truly successful, an individual needs to be allowed to fail and learn from their mistakes.  During times like this, we will support the individual by making sure systems are in place to ensure their safety and well being.  24 hour on-call emergency services are also available should the need arise.

All individuals in our Supported Living program are valued and empowered to make their own choices, such as who will assist them in achieving their goals, where they live, with whom, and how they chose to live and play.  Our goal is to provide a variety of creative supports to meet the unique needs of individuals.
